Parker and Shelby met when they were just babies. Parker’s grandfather is the pastor of the church Shelby has gone to since she was born. They grew up together and as they got older became best friends. “About the time we were 14, we realized that our feelings had developed for each other! So we decided to develop a strong friendship and see just how much we really liked each other! In case you couldn’t tell… we learned that we really wanted to be together.”-Shelby
As their friendship and relationship developed they were blessed to have the opportunity to do missions together. They have gone out of the country together 4 times and have served together on 30 or more missions trips! This developed a strong passion for sharing the gospel. It also allowed them to develop their relationship with Christ as the center focus of their relationship.
After about a year of dating, Parker moved 5 hours away from where they grew up. This was very hard for both of them but “just another way that God allowed us to grow tremendously together”-Parker and Shelby
About 4 years into their relationship Parker and Shelby were back together both attending the University of Mobile. “Through the long distance relationship, Parker and I only grew closer together and we have been growing every day for the last 6 years now! It has been a long time coming but we are absolutely ecstatic to be currently planning our own wedding. We are ready to see the amazing ways that God works and the opportunities he has given us to serve together as one. I am currently getting ready to spend the summer in Peru doing missions and teaching English. I have been going to Peru since I was 16 years old and now God has led me to stay there for 8 weeks!” -Shelby
During the summer Parker will be an intern at Redeemed Church, where he will also take part in leading at a drug and alcohol recovery center. In December of 2018 Shelby will be graduating from the University of Mobile and they will be married June 1, 2019. “We are so blessed and excited to begin this adventure of life together!” -Parker and Shelby
Parker and Shelby we are so excited for you guys. You both have been such an incredible part of our church. We are so blessed that you two have served our children on Sunday evenings teaching them what worship to the Lord is. We are going to miss you guys this summer but couldn’t be more excited to hear all that the Lord is going to do for His glory through you both!
“No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.” 1 John 4:12
