This is Us…. Part 2

May 31, 2018

June 23, 2005

“Tonight was mine and Wayne’s first date.  What is incredible about that, is we talked about our wedding and engagement!  God has so perfectly and unexplainably orchestrated our relationship.  We prayed together for the first time last night.  It is just so awesome how things can work out when God is totally the center of it!  He is totally perfect in every way, I just can’t explain it and God has worked out every little detail!”  He asked me to go to the Shane and Shane concert with a couple of his friends.  I’m pretty sure dinner afterward was to win their approval haha.  Thanks Matt and Jeremy!

Well again we all know he wasn’t perfect but I still think he’s perfect for me.  It’s so funny to go back and read some of these things.  The time line leading up to this point started….

May 27, 2005 I went to his church softball game, he would say this is the first time he “saw” me and became really interested.

June 7, 2005 My car was broke down and I was walking to my night class and Wayne called to see if I would be a pick up in a coed game his cousin put together, because they were short a girl.  He came and picked me up (I was a little excited just that he came and picked me up and he was listening to Christian music on the radio.  I thought I was the only one that listened to Power 88).  Come to find out all this was being planned by my older sister, the one who said I would marry him a few years before.

June 11, 2005 We were all over at Mr. Godwin’s house (he was our Bible teacher in high school and a really good friend, I went on 3 missions trips he led).  This was the first night we really talked and lasted till about 2 am.

June 15, 2005 I had a dinner party at my grandmothers house and invited him over.  He brought rolls, I remember because I was impressed that they were in basket with a cloth napkin covering them.  I also made chicken spaghetti that night with fresh veggies, it was good but it seemed a little dry to me.  At about midnight it hit me when I was in bed, I forgot to add the milk! LoL no one ever said anything.  There were about 12 people there that night we played games and watch a movie.  I can remember just being excited to sit on the floor by his leg when he was sitting on the sofa haha.

A few more late night/early morning conversations led up to the June 17 realization from last week, that we going to get married. Next week I’ll share about our first conversation about marriage and how the Lord confirmed it in both of us.
